Lost at Sea
2012
Description The stuffing of an old doll surrounds a headless figurine of an adorned woman wedged in a wooden tea box. The box has images of old ships, connecting to the metal ship atop the box (a painted Monopoly game piece). The items hanging from the bottom on waxed strings are specimens from ocean depths: shells, stones, an old cannon (game piece), and the woman’s head itself. Copper fittings are also incorporated. As the name implies, the piece is about losses to the ocean, or places the ocean might symbolize.
